The TES Award

WE DID IT! Young Explorers at Hillside are Early Years Setting of the Year!

On Friday, the senior leadership team, Miss Holden and Miss Wood attended the prestigious TES Schools Awards ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel in London. We had a fantastic evening celebrating outstanding practice in education across the country.

We were increasingly nervous as the winners began to be announced. There were twelve categories before ours – it felt like a long, nerve wracking wait! We were bursting with pride as our Young Explorers video was played to over 1300 people on three giant screens – it looked fantastic!

Then we heard it… “And the winners are… Young Explorers at Hillside Community Primary School!” We screamed, cried, shouted and jumped up and down with complete shock and excitement, before making our way to the stage to receive our award from Greg Davies and Dame Joan McVittie. What a special moment – one we will never forget.

We want to say a big ‘Thank you!” to you all for your ongoing support. This award is for all of our amazing Young Explorers, their families, our dedicated practitioners and the Tanhouse Community. We couldn’t be more proud of everything that we have achieved together.

Here are just some of the lovely things that the judges said about our setting; “Young Explorers really impressed with the breadth and depth of all it is doing,” “It has developed high-quality outdoor provision, and ensures that all children make progress during their time in the setting.” Ann Mroz, Editor, TES, commented: “This is a truly child- and family – orientated setting.  It is doing a fantastic job and clearly has a huge impact on the children, parents and the wider community.”

Have a look on the TES Schools Award website http://www.tesawards.co.uk/ to see more photographs and videos of the special night and to read the lovely things that TES have written about us. You can also follow TES on twitter.
