Welcome to Year Two

Welcome to Y2’s class page.

PE: Y2 have PE every Monday and Friday. Please ensure PE kits are kept in school until half term and that earrings are left out on these days.

Homework: We ask that Y2 children read 6 times a week with adults initialling reading diaries in order for the children to be awarded dojo points and rewards. On a Friday, spellings and times table practise will be sent home to be completed by the following Tuesday and spelling tests are each Friday.

All children have their own username and passwords for Active Learn and Times Tables Rock Stars which they can access from home as well as in school.

Make sure you keep an eye on Seesaw as regular updates will be posted on there all about what we’re getting up to in class!

Staying Safe Online

We have been learning about Online Safety.  We know that there are people we can trust but also people that we can’t trust. We know to ALWAYS tell an adult if something worries us online.

We signed pledges today that say that we will remember to always ask an adult before doing anything online and to get help from a trusted adult if anything worries us online. The names have been cropped from these images for the purpose of online safety and not sharing our personal information online, which the children have also been learning about.

In our Jigsaw lesson today we talked about what worries Jigsaw Jo might have about starting Y2 and we gave him advice about what to do about those worries. We then read ‘Worries Go Away’ and met a worry monster. We have learnt that if we are worried about anything it is always best to talk to someone about it and never keep them locked away inside us.

In Science today we looked at materials and their properties. We learnt lots of new scientific words such as transparent, opaque, absorbent, waterproof, rigid and flexible.

Today we were introduced to Hector and his friends who help us to learn how to keep safe online. Today we learnt how important it is to keep our personal information safe.
