Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
Relationships Education has been a statutory part of the primary curriculum since September 2020. At our school, we believe that Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) plays an important role in helping children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to stay safe, healthy and prepared for life in modern Britain.
Our RSHE curriculum is taught in an age-appropriate and inclusive way and supports children to develop positive relationships, understand physical and emotional wellbeing, and learn how to keep themselves safe, including online. The curriculum is delivered in line with statutory guidance from the Department for Education and reflects the needs of our pupils and school community.
We use the Jigsaw PSHE programme to support the delivery of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education, including the statutory elements of Relationships Education and Health Education. Jigsaw provides a progressive curriculum that builds children's knowledge and understanding year on year.
We value the views of parents, carers, staff and governors and will continue to review our RSHE provision and policy regularly to ensure it remains relevant, effective and compliant with current statutory guidance.
Parents have the right to request that their child be withdrawn from some or all non-statutory sex education delivered as part of statutory RSE. Parents wishing to discuss this should contact the Headteacher.
